Ready to take your engineering leadership to the next level? Yelp’s Commerce Platform teams have an ambitious and exciting plan to build up our platform to scale with Yelp’s fast growing business. We’re looking for an Engineering Director to help our team continue to make processing of all commerce transactions reliable, scalable and customizable for the current and future needs of Yelp!

As an Engineering Director on the Commerce team, you will oversee a multi-year roadmap of initiatives to transform the Yelp Commerce and Checkout platform. That scope includes APIs, data flow, and customer-facing UI components for a dynamic purchasing system. You will have the opportunity to lead efforts across multiple engineering groups, while interacting with teams across Yelp to the delight of our customers.
This role leads a platform that powers everything from the sale of ads on Yelp search results, to food ordering, to integrations for cars, and much more. It’s a dynamic and exciting space that is constantly growing and scaling with the needs of Yelp. The role, and the platform, is backed by talented engineering teams in search of a leader to help them realize the future of what this platform can be.

What You’ll Do

• Play a key role in developing and driving a multi-year technology strategy for the commerce platform
• Lead multiple software development teams in architecting solutions at scale to empower the business
• Inspire, coach, mentor, and support your team members in their day-to-day work and their long-term professional growth
• Facilitate technical conversations and decision-making with an appreciation for trade-offs
• Identify and execute on key initiatives aimed at continuously improving and advancing the technical architecture, documentation, skills, standards, and practices of our engineering teams
• Rethink and push the status quo, even when it challenges your/our established ideas
• Fulfill an active role in hiring; foster and build a fun, diverse, and inclusive culture that reflects Yelp’s values.

What It Takes To Succeed

• Previous platform experience in delivering new features and products through high-performing teams
• Hands-on experience in software engineering, including leading, coaching, and growing highly performant teams and their managers
• Technical background in making architectural and design-related decisions for large-scale platforms including tradeoffs between time-to-market and flexibility
• Strong ability to to communicate, collaborate within organizations to find alignment, and influence decisions
• Analytical and decision-making skills that integrate technical and business requirements

What You’ll Get

• Compensation range is $200,000 – $325,000 CAD annually. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits.
